Who we are

Hi there, my name is Shawna and I am the owner of Maureen’s Flowers. A little bit about me. I am a mother of 2 beautiful daughters that are now grown.  Now that they have flown the coop, I found my new hobby of flower farming.  2024 was when I really started working at  this and acquiring tubers from local growers. I always bought local flowers from growers so I thought why not grow my own. I live in the perfect area to grow, right in the heart of Skagit County, WA amongst all the farm fields. While I am not playing in my flowers, I work full time as an RN at a local hospital. It brings me great joy to be able to share my flowers at my workplace and I am grateful to be allowed to do so. I donate a good portion of my flowers to patients as well as put fresh bouquets out on the units every week for everyone to enjoy.

I own 2.5 acres, so I grow on a small scale . In 2024 I planted just over 200 plants. This year I planted over 100 varieties of Dahlias with 420 plants. I also have a cottage garden that I added and my cutting garden area for filler flowers.

So how did I name my business ….  well, my Grandma Maureen always had a love for flowers which was extended to my mom Colleen and now me. I always remember my Grandma having a lot of gardens when I was growing up. Then as she started to age and was no longer able to tend to her own gardens anymore, my mom would go and help her in the spring time with all of her hanging baskets and pots. So I wanted my business name to mean something and pass along the joy flowers bring people.

Thank you for supporting my small business!
